SECRETARIAT

The Secretariat is IRF’s main working body, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Under the supervision and oversight of the Executive Committee, the Secretariat is responsible for all activities, memberships, and partnerships of the IRF and works as the liaison between all IRF members, ensuring that partnerships occur effectively and efficiently. The management of the Secretariat is entrusted to the Director General, appointed by the Board of Directors. The Director General represents the Federation in all legal and administrative matters. Together with the President and the Board, the DG defines strategic plans for the Federation and ensures the daily management of the Secretariat.

Director General, International Road Federation

Susanna serves as the Director General of the International Road Federation (IRF) in Geneva, Switzerland, where she is responsible for leading and managing the organization.

Recognized as one of the Most Remarkable Women in Transport by TUMI, Susanna is a passionate advocate for road safety. She has been a member of the Advisory Board for the FIA High-Level Panel on Road Safety and currently chairs the “Safer Roads and Mobility” Pillar of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration Group (UNRSC).

Central to her work and that of the IRF is the commitment to building capacity at all levels and facilitating partnerships among multiple stakeholders. Susanna has played a key role since the launch of the Sustainable Mobility for All (SuM4All) initiative, led by the World Bank, which unites 55 leading stakeholders from the transport sector. She is a Steering Committee Member and co-leads the Working Group on Road Safety in collaboration with Michelin, having previously co-led the Working Group on Data Sharing with the WBCSD. Additionally, Susanna is a member of the TRB International Coordinating Council, the iRAP Global Policy Advisory Committee, the Advisory Board of ORIS, and the Board of the TotalEnergies Foundation.

Gonzalo serves as the Deputy Director General of the International Road Federation (IRF), bringing over a decade of experience in cutting-edge projects focused on the Internet of Things, urban mobility, autonomous vehicles, and Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems. His expertise lies in the realm of connected vehicles, with a particular emphasis on vehicle-to-infrastructure communication (V2X) and the development of innovative mobility services that utilize autonomous technologies.

Throughout his career, Gonzalo has been at the forefront of integrating advanced technologies into transportation systems, aiming to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability. His work involves collaborating with industry leaders, government agencies, and academic institutions to explore new solutions that address the evolving challenges of urban mobility. By leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience, he contributes to shaping the future of transportation, ensuring that the implementation of smart mobility initiatives benefits communities around the globe.
