Road Sector for COP27
The 27th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) was hosted on 6-18 November 2022 in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt. The objective was to accelerate global climate action through emissions’ reduction, scaled-up adaptation efforts, and enhanced flows of appropriate finance able to ensure a ‘just transition’.
The International Road Federation and other leading organisations in the road sector have come together to restate the sector’s firm commitment to effectively reduce CO2 emissions to net-zero by 2050 in line with the Paris Agreement.
In a joint statement released on 15 November 2022, they collectively call for action that is pragmatic, ensures a just transition and embraces innovation.

"The industry is committed and ready to do its part, but we cannot do it alone. We call on all parties to join us in taking action and create together a conducive environment for the road sector to deliver on the Paris Agreement"
