The International Road Federation (IRF) together with the Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Centre (Qatar University) and Traffic Tech are pleased to invite you to this professional course on “Applied Crash Investigation” taking place on 3-5 March 2024 at Qatar University (Doha, Qatar).
This professional course will introduce various aspects required for road crash investigation such as scene sketching theory and practice and the use of various formulas to establish the cause of a crash, minimum speed, etc. It will also address some basic aspects of scene photography and introduce specific crash types such as pedestrian crashes and issues related to time- series analysis.
The course is intended to capacitate the following potential stakeholders in road crash investigation:
- Police crash investigators;
- Private crash investigators;
- Road technicians;
- Road safety practitioners;
- Transportation engineers; and
- Accidentologists

- To promote the importance of accurate crash scene sketching.
- To assist investigators in photographing scenes effectively.
- To use various formulas related to acceleration and deceleration.
- To apply vehicle, fall, vault, and throw formulas to determine minimum speed.
- To introduce pedestrian crash investigation techniques.
- To focus on the basics of lamp examination, etc.
- To assist crash investigators in writing good crash reports.
- To understand the principles of effective court testimony.
