Technology Enablers for Higher Vehicle Automation & Operations

October 15 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Upcoming webinar

Technology Enablers for Higher Vehicle Automation & Operations: Testing Performance and Reliability of ADFs for Extending and Fragmenting ODDs is a webinar led by Hi-Drive with the support of IRF. It is happening online on 15 October at 14:00 CEST.

The webinar will explore how the Hi-Drive European project is breaking new ground in vehicle high automation, tackling the toughest challenges that hinders safe and reliable deployment.

Hi-Drive is working to extend and harmonise Operational Design Domains (ODDs) by focusing on critical technology enablers such as Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), cybersecurity, high-precision positioning and machine learning.

Participants will gain insights into real world cross-border trials, data-driven testing and innovative tools that are shaping the future of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) in Europe.

Join us to discover what these technologies are and how they are essential for safe and scalable rollout of automation.

More information

The Hi-Drive European project is paving the way towards vehicle ‘High Automation’ by evaluating the robustness and reliability of vehicle automated functions in demanding and error-prone conditions, with special focus on addressing challenging Operational Design Domains: Hi-Drive’s ambition is to considerably extend and defragment the ODDs to prevent frequent takeover requests to human drivers.
The Hi-Drive activities on Technology Enablers are focused on four thematic areas crucial for the development and deployment of vehicle high automation:
  • V2X Communication: for cooperative perception of traffic scenarios
  • High-Precision Positioning and Localisation: with sub-metre accuracy
  • V2X Cybersecurity: to ensure trustworthiness and integrity of exchanged data
  • Machine Learning: for reliable traffic scenario perception, vehicle decision-making, and driver monitoring.
The project’s Operations activities involved preparing and conducting tests on open roads and test tracks supported by simulations, as well as managing the derived data enabling large-scale demonstrations that covered specific use cases and engaged a network of partners. These operations focused on:
  • Technologies for CAD systems: Connectivity – V2V and V2I –, accurate positioning, digital infrastructure and cybersecurity
  • Challenging situations: Extreme weather conditions, urban environments cooperative use cases, signal loss, cross-border corridors, etc.
  • Consistent data collection was ensured through common tools and databases developed in order to appropriately manage, process, and deliver the data for the evaluation and assessment studies that followed.
