SWARCO Aquires Iris Elmore Group
Long-term business partner in Ireland moves under the SWARCO umbrella.
With the transaction closed on 31 July 2024, Austrian traffic technology corporation SWARCO AG has acquired 100% of the shares in the Irish family owned business, Elmore Group. The Elmore Group, previously owned by Mark Elmore and Marion Elmore-Kelly, looks back on a multi-decade business partnership with SWARCO, especially in the segment of LED traffic lights and traffic control.
The Elmore Group specialises in the supply, integration and maintenance of a range of solutions for the traffic and transportation management sector. Based in Dublin, they offer a nationwide installation and maintenance service across a full range of ITS solutions for local authorities and major building contractors.
“The acquisition will expand SWARCO’s footprint in ITS in the Republic of Ireland through a well-established player founded by Seamus Elmore already in 1965”, says John Pickworth, SWARCO’s ITS Head of Region UK & Ireland. He adds: “I am excited to join forces with Mark Elmore and his team to further cement and grow our position as an ITS solution and services leader in the region.”
SWARCO CEO Michael Schuch comments: “We have been cultivating a long-term friendship with the Elmore family and thank them for their confidence in entrusting their life’s work to SWARCO. With Mark Elmore and the Elmore team on board, we will be able to deliver turnkey ITS solutions and services, building on the foundation of our established business in Ireland with key customers, including Dublin City Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland, and strengthening our portfolio.”
“Marion and myself are proud of what our family business have achieved over the past 59 years, and we believe now is the right time for the Elmore Group to move to the next level”, said Mark Elmore. “Following a culmination of 36 successful years partnership with SWARCO AG, this acquisition is the most obvious and logical choice for moving forward. We are excited to continue to the next phase of our business under the umbrella of SWARCO AG and together look forward to providing an even greater level of service to all our customers in the ITS industry.”
